Family

In the Roman family, one figure ruled above all others: 'pater familias', who had the powers of life and death over their family. True this is.
In the II century, their power was restricted. It was forbidden to put to death their legitimate sons.
The situation gradually improved and at the end of the Republican period, a woman could educate herself through a tutor and could command the slaves.
Of course, only wealthy women could enjoy these benefits.
